Same court, on wheels

Wheelchair netball, and where to play it.

Netball played in sports wheelchairs, usually open to disabled and non-disabled players alike. There are fewer clubs than for any other form of the game, which is exactly why every one of them matters on this map, and why a missing one is worth adding.

What it is

Wheelchair netball adapts the game for sports wheelchairs: the court and the passing game are familiar, and the rules around movement and contact are changed to suit chairs. Sessions are often run by netball associations, disability sport organisations or wheelchair sports clubs, and many welcome non-disabled players so a whole family or team can play together. Chairs are usually provided at a session for people who do not have their own.

The game is newer and less uniform than other forms of netball, and the details differ from place to place. The listing on the map is the place to check who runs a session, what they provide, and how to get in touch. If you know of a session that is not here, please add it.

Is it for me?

A wheelchair user who wants a team sport?

Look for a session near you and ask whether chairs are provided. Most sessions welcome first-timers and will put you on court the same day.

Not a wheelchair user?

Many sessions are for everyone. Playing in a chair is its own skill and a great leveller, and clubs are often glad of extra players.

Run a session and want players?

Add it to the map with "Wheelchair netball" as the type, say whether chairs are provided, and tick beginners welcome if they are.
