The story in three lines
Men's and mixed netball is growing fast but was almost impossible to find: club lists sat in dozens of association sites, Facebook groups and PDFs. This map puts every club in the world in one place, with a pin, playing days and how to join. It is free for players and clubs, run by one person, and the data is open.
Numbers you can quote
- Australia: 432 clubs in 256 cities and towns (page)
- United Kingdom: 113 clubs in 68 cities and towns (page)
- New Zealand: 59 clubs in 23 cities and towns (page)
- England: 44 clubs in 26 cities and towns (page)
- Malaysia: 38 clubs in 17 cities and towns (page)
- Sri Lanka: 34 clubs in 9 cities and towns (page)
- India: 28 clubs in 19 cities and towns (page)
- Bermuda: 16 clubs in 7 cities and towns (page)
Every number above updates itself. For a figure on a specific date, the open data carries a timestamp, and every page says "as at" its date.
Angles
- Netball deserts. The map records where people searched for netball and found nothing, and shows those places as rings. A story about where the game is missing, from the people looking for it.
- Men's netball, mapped. 99 men's clubs and 282 mixed clubs worldwide, browsable by country: Australia, England, New Zealand.
- Clubs vouch for themselves. Every listing carries the date a club last confirmed it, and stale listings say so. Honesty over completeness.
Using the site and data
